I got thinking about that stupid Newgrounds Parappa ripoff again. Along with that I got thinking about the mod I made for that damn game. Was I reminiscing? Maybe, but it got me thinking about how I acted while I was on that FNF hypetrain.
Let me start by saying, I am not going to leave this game in the dust yet. Not until Vs. Mann Co. V2 comes out, then that's when I will stop thinking about it. I would also like to say that I have absolutely nothing against the people who make mods for this game, obviously besides those who decide to ignore a simple law regarding age.
So, Vs. Eep. Vs. Eep was a mod I developed with two of my friends and two people I basically hired through GameBanana one day: Walto (WaltoMusic) and Switcherbeats. To summarize, this was a collective first time doing something like this. Everybody lacked or had zero experience making a mod until then. Which honestly worked out for all of us, since we learned the ins and outs of our roles towards the mod.
To be completely honest, I was the one that did the least amount of work. I was in charge of making sprites, while using that TERRIBLE Krita method. I'm no animator so the animations were choppy and bad. I can't really complain about the mod using the older designs of Eep, Blend, Ed, etc. but I can say that they were terrible. I recycled and reskinned code and backgrounds. There were people that I probably didn't even credit. I made sure to not overwork anyone, always making sure that everyone was okay with what ideas I had. Once V2 was out I wanted to make a 3rd little secret and call it finished. It came out (not so) unfinished, and that was basically my first and last project in that community
However there were other projects, but they never made it past their concepts. I'll link them all here, since I think it's finally time to let people see them.
Eventually Walto came to me to ask if the team he was working with could have permission to use my characters for a mod jam, and that finished mod would become Divine Duality. Without hesitation, (and without regret, that damn mod was amazing) I agreed and was at the edge of my seat to see what they'd do. Calyx (which I think is their username), was the lead artist for the mod and made their own interpretations and/or designs of Eep, Void, and White Space (now named Null). Walto sent me the concepts for these guys as they were being made, hot damn did I love these designs.
Although I now realize that I acted a little rude towards the designs. I suggested additions and removals of certain things like mouths or Eep's scarf. I now know that these weren't my designs, and I had no control over whether certain things were changed. I never apologized for this so it's best to do it now.
Walto and Calyx, I am humbly sorry for that it was very rude on my part. To the rest of the Vs. Eep team or those who knew about the other projects, I'm sorry for making promises I never kept, it really came down to if I wanted to put the effort into it and I didn't.
If I were to ever make something like Vs. Eep again, it would be more polished but have the amount of effort I would want to put into it. Sprites would only be 1-3 frames, it would only be 1-2 songs, and would never get an update.
It feels good to finally get my thoughts about Vs. Eep off of my chest. It was a good mod for basically kickstarting my internet career for it was my most popular project. So do I regret it? Not at all, it was honestly quite charming.
Anyways, FNF is dying, Mario's Madness V2 was peak modding, and CobaltBoy is awesome.
That's all from me today, cheers.
(I would like to mention that I will never forget the day Calyx sent an image of Void and White Space kissing. That shit was hilarious and I eventually made it canon lmao. Love wins.)
