Pono was a cat that used to have a life similar to Ed's. They took hits for money and were part of a much larger group that controlled the streets. Pono was a big deal in the gang, having previous army experience being known as a sort of "Battle Cat." Very skillful with a knife, good with a gun, whilst being quick and nimble. Over time this group died out, either because of people retiring or straight up just dying. Pono was one of these to retire, and he did so very peacefully. He never got in any trouble, and he got to relax in his home with friends visiting from time to time for the rest of his life.

After his encounter with The Glitch, he made his promise for projection to Null, and came back as a ghost. He barely changed his form, and just decided to disguise his color in purple. His promise was to protect Ed's family from any and all future danger, and he was immediately sent to his first assignment under that promise. He saves Eep from The Glitch's wrath and moves in with Eep to further his attempt at being a guardian. 

Unfortunately for Eep, Blend's got a crazy sweet tooth. No consequences for eating cookies, no limit to when he stops.
